What does Alternative Strings mean?
Alternative Strings refers to different styles of music played on string instruments such as fiddle, jazz, world, pop, movie, and video game music. What will students learn in Alternative Strings? Students will learn to identify and describe different styles of music and learn techniques used in different styles of music. Additionally, students will learn strategies for improvisation and independent musicianship skills. How does my child join Alternative Strings? Please complete the interest form and permission slip and return it to your child’s orchestra director. There is no fee or audition process to become a member of the 6th Grade Alternative Strings. All are welcome! Can any instrument play in the Alternative Strings group? Yes! Violins, violas, cellos and basses are all welcome to play with this group. We also welcome guitar and piano players. Where and when are Rehearsals All rehearsals will take place at Grande Reserve Elementary School from 4:30-5:30. Rehearsals will take place on Monday nights unless there is no school on that day.
